Well done Piper!

Today Piper brought in a trophy and 3 certificates that she won at athletics last night .  The trophy is for being the top points scorer in her age group over the season.

Congratulations Piper - we are all really proud of you.

Finnely

Do you remember the Journey Journal that Piper and Bella worked on so hard?  Well, we sent it off to Finnely who lives in England.  She is Shylah's cousin and Mr Bateman's grand daughter.  We are so pleased to get a picture so show us that it has arrived safely.  Not only did she get the journal, she also got a special card that Shylah and some of her friends made for her.
We hope that you have fun working on the journal Finnely.

Happy St Patrick's Day

Today is St Patrick's Day - a day which the Irish cherish!  Callum came to school wearing his Ireland top to celebrate his heritage.  Paige and Laura are spending the day going around rest homes and performing for the residents.  What a wonderful cultural day.

Go Max!!

Well done to Max whose team came first in the interclub tennis champs (11 year olds).  We are so proud of you :)

Boom Whackers!!!

Mrs Thomas, our fantastic intern in our class at the moment, has been teaching us some music.  One of the things that she has let us use are the boom whackers.  The book whackers are pipes which create different sounds depending on how you use them.  Today we wrote some music using these.  It was so much fun.  Next time we use them, we will video our wonderful work.

Science in a Van

Today we were lucky enough to have some visitors come to our school.  Allan and Emily are PASSIONATE about science and loved passing on this passion.  They showed us lots of cool experiments, taught us parts of the periodic table, and helped us to understand about solids, liquids and gasses.  They also played some science tricks on Mrs Dark and some student teachers!

Journey Journal

Bella and Piper have done a fantastic job of filling in Savannah's Journal.  They have picked all the important information about our school and city and are now ready to send it on.  We are going to send it to Shylah's cousin, Finn (who just happens to also be Mr Bateman's grand daughter)!  We hope that she loves it as much as we do.
We decided to include a couple of extra's in the package for Finn, including a lovely photo of Shylah, Mylia and Mr Bateman.

Before School

It is great to see the kids coming in and finding awesome activities to do before school. They are all demonstrating our school dispositions of collaboration and creativity.

Instruction Writing

Today we made Monster Bookmarks.  We are going to write instructions next week after watching the video.  Aren't they cute?

Journey Journal

Over the weekend, Miss Rickard received a Journey Journal from a student in the United States.  It has been all around Australia, and parts of New Zealand.  Bella and Piper are going to fill it in for our class and send it on to Shylah's cousin who lives in the United Kingdom.  It was really interesting to read, and we think that we might do a class one, and see where it goes in the world.

The Neverending Tunnel

Stumbling through a sea of dangling trees, I have a million questions.  'Where am I?  Where is food?...'  

My legs slowly jog carefully around the stumps of the trees for hours, until sunset.  Then I see a large creature looking in the distance.  As it crawls around the trees, I hear a high pitched 'POP' and a long, silver shape rockets across my face.
